In 2014 I moved to Melbourne and started a BFA in Theatre Practice at the Victorian College of the Arts. I was lured by the promise of becoming a better actor and a lifelong commitment to getting out of Adelaide as soon as I could. In my first two years of training I co-devised a number of works and played the roles of Haemon in Antigone, Yasha in The Cherry Orchard and Joe Bonaparte in Golden Boy, all directed by Melanie Beddie as well as the lead role in Dr. Zachary Dunbar's Florida at La Mama. In 2015 I lost my Mum to suicide and I made the decision to defer my training for a year. During my deferment I continued training, working with Marilyn McIntyre on Uta Hagen's Object Exercises (Howard Fine Acting Studio) and Justin Lehmann on Meisner and Sensory techniques (16th Street Actors Studio).
In 2016 I was raring to join a new company of actors and continued my training at VCA, performing the roles of Sid in Samson (Dir. Trent Baker), Joe in Angels in America: Part I and The Priest in Mother Courage & Her Children (Dir. Chris Kohn) as well co-devising the original work, Never for Melbourne Fringe Festival 2017 and Justin Nott's Can't Be Tamed (Melbourne Fringe Festival 2016 & Adelaide Fringe Festival 2017).
Since graduating VCA I have worked with Patsy Rodenburg on Shakespeare & Voice, Meisner with Julia Grace (both 16th Street Actors Studio) and Bronwen Coleman on Sensory technique. I have also learnt to care for house plants and taken a course in Political Economy. So, well-rounded.
